Community Involvement

Your YMCA of Georgia’s Piedmont is actively involved in our community. Here's some examples of things we do each year.

YMCA Morning Mission - an outreach program that allows YMCA staff, volunteers and members to use their talents in the community to help those unable to help themselves. To become part of the Morning Mission please contact the YMCA at 770-868-2917.

Healthy Kids Day - a Nation Wide YMCA event held every April that is hosted for the community to show children that being healthy is FUN.

Easter Egg Hunt - a collaboration between The People's Bank and the YMCA. Community children come out to meet the Easter Bunny and hunt eggs for prizes.

Summer's End 5000® - Barrow County's largest 5K held the 2nd Saturday in August.

Halloween Carnival - a community Trick or Treat carnival held at the YMCA for ages 5 to 13. A great way to spend Halloween in a safe, Christian environment.

American Cancer Society (Wellness and Health Classes) - the YMCA partners with area doctors and businesses through the ACS to host wellness awareness classes for the YMCA members and community.

American Red Cross (Safety Awareness Classes and Blood Drives) - ARC holds quarterly blood drives at the YMCA along with hosting community safety awareness classes on YMCA premises

American Heart Society (CPR/First Aid/AED for community) - AHS offers CPR to the community at the YMCA.

Magnolia Estates & Barrow Senior Center (exercise classes) - the YMCA exercise staff goes to each facility to hold chair and yoga classes for senior citizens unable to come the YMCA

Barrow Regional Hospital (screenings) - onsite nurse provides free blood testing, nutritional, and wellness counseling.
